About Me
It is reported that when Tammy Wynette became wildly successful and extremely wealthy, she lived in a fine mansion. She had an outhouse – a real outhouse – brought and assembled in her plush master bath. She said she always wanted to remember where she came from.
I like remembering where I came from too, and how sometimes, we just need to go back there and think about what the heck we’re doing.
I am a 48 year old southern girl who spent my childhood in a trailer park. My grandparents never had indoor plumbing, so yes, I have used an outhouse on many occassions.
I am a sales manager for a national company and spend 3 weeks a month traveling. When I’m home, I share my office space with my cat Monkey. I am married to a wonderful southern gentleman who grew up in the family farming business that used the old plantation model as its operating procedure. We live in a small town that is stuck in the past and that is good is some ways and appalling in others.
Although the days of poverty are far behind me, I haven’t forgotten those days. When I consider the things I see and hear and the situations I observe, sometimes I reflect back on just how far I’ve come in life. That keeps me happy and grateful for what I have and keenly aware that so many people I come into contact with are clueless.
These writings are my view on the everyday things in life, as seen from the seat in the outhouse.
